Modern Look Hair Salon is owned and run by Margaret McClellan.
At the age of 18 years old Margaret went to hairdressing school at Blaine Hair School of Boston. While attending school, Margaret worked as an assistant at John Dellaria in Wellesley, Massachusetts. After graduating hairdressing school Margaret worked as a stylist at La Clique Hair Salon in Needham, Massachusetts which was a sister salon to John Dellaria. Margaret worked at La Clique for 6 years before moving to Concord, New Hampshire where she has worked for the past 26 years. She has been an independent contractor for the past 16 years at the Mane Element Hair Studio.
Margaret has always been a passionate stylist; her Motto is “Do What You Love, Love What You Do” and you’ll never feel like it’s work. In 1987 Margaret won first place in cut & color at a John Dellaria hair competition. Margaret has always had a passion for professional education; always keeping up with the latest trends. It’s like a marriage; she says the longer you’ve been doing hair the more you need to pay attention to what’s going on.
Working as an Educator Expert for SexyHair Concepts based out of Chattsworth, California for the past 10 years has been an amazing opportunity. Teaching the latest cuts, up-styling, finish work, and now men’s clipper cutting which is the hottest trend out there in the industry now. Teaching has been an inspiration for Margaret… Making a difference one stylist at a time. Margaret says what we do in 45 minutes to an hour for a person can take a lifetime for them to figure out.
Touching the lives of others has been a true gift according to Margaret; “That’s a big part of why I love what I do. Being in the beauty industry is always revolving, therefore you need to keep up with your education, and technical skills. It’s essential.”
Throughout the years as a stylist Margaret has attended many seminars and classes. She attended YBN (Your Beauty Network) seminars and has also done some advanced leadership development and training programs such as Bravehearts, and coaching programs, both on personal and professional levels with Behnam Bakhshandeh, internationally known coach and trainer of Primeco Education, working on her communication and leadership skills which are very important in any professional industry.
Opening her new hair salon Modern Look Hair Salon has been a dream of hers for quite some time. She loves the charm and New England feel Henniker has.\
She hopes to bring her own unique charm to the community; “Elegance with an Edge” she says.
